The Garden Appreciation Society Week 8 -- Link up!

It's raining again. Go figure. I had to quick run outside this morning during a lull and cut a quick bouquet for this week's Garden Appreciation Society. I think you'd be hard pressed to find a better cut flower than a peony. I mean, it's a no brainer kind of flower, isn't it? OK, maybe I'd put hydrangeas on top of peonies in that regard, but then again, I'm a hydrangea addict.

My peonies are not particularly spectacular. I don't pay much attention to them so I don't get the kind of blooms that people who do things like, you know, fertlize, do, but they are still beautiful. I'm partial to the soft pink blooms but I appreciate the pop of color from the magenta blooms.

Of course I added Lady's Mantle to the bouquet because I sort of think that Lady's Mantle should be in every bouquet. That plant has got to be in my top 10 must-haves for the garden.

I'm in the middle of updating the firmware on my camera so I had to use the camera phone for these shots.

You all did marvelous in appreciating your gardens last week! I can't wait to see what you come up with this week. Anyone have any Fourth of July-themed bouquets? I don't have much in the way of red blooming in the garden right now but hopefully the poppies will be blooming soon.

Have a great holiday everyone. And remember to link up now!

And don't miss out on past weeks.

Peonies always impress me. I added an Itoh peony to my garden this year - it had a few blooms but they're long gone and I can only hope it blooms again next year. (SoCal isn't peony country.) I've posted a picture of my contribution this week, which is indeed in shades of red, white and blue. Thanks for hosting, Erin, and have a wonderful Independence Day!

Love the colors in your bouquet. I don't have lady's mantle in my garden. I may need to add it. It certainly works well in your arrangement.

We found a surprise peony lurking in the back of an overgrown flower bed this year - a very pleasant surprise! They are stunning aren't they :)

Any idea of the name of that pink one? Just stunning and I bet it is an old fragrant variety.

Love your bouquet this week. My neighbor is getting rid of some lady's mantle...maybe I can find a place for it! I didn't think about putting it into a bouquet, but you're right--it's a natural.

Your peonies ARE spectacular! They are long gone from my garden, so it is a treat to see them in a bouquet!
